RHATIGAN CHRIS T-T LUX ADAM TEDDER Thursday 13th September 2001
Last time CHRIS
T-T played for us he had a bit of bad luck. After withdrawing
some money from a nearby cash machine some louser stole his card
and having seen him insert his PIN cleared his account of funds.
Chris gamely went on with the show and given his remarkably prolific
song writing, has probably penned ten or so songs on the subject.
He is the Alan Ayckbourn of popular song, kitchen sink dramas
and love-lorn liturgies. If you can't wait for the next full
length Chris t-t follow up to the critically acclaimed 'Panic
attack at Sainsbury's' Snowstorm Records then check him on the
new Fierce
Panda compilation 'VET SOUNDS'.
First up is ADAM TEDDER who has
to date confined his song writing skills to his bedroom, but
his ambitions are far greater than that. Reminiscent of Jeff
Buckley at his more grandiose but with out the annoying over
use of that searing falsetto that most JB proteges mistake for
soulfulness. I sometimes think Jeff must be spinning in his watery
grave at his legacy, hopefully not in the case of Adam though.

FIONA BRICE is best known in London music circles as a talented and much sought after violinist. She can be heard playing with Tram, Michael J Sheehy (that guy again) Rhatigan and Menlo Park among others. Tonight she will be playing her own piano led songs, which despite her classic piano style and her undeniable prettiness belie a tough lyrical centre. She's no pushover. Hopefully she will play her violin on a couple of Rhatigan tunes later in the evening. If you can't make it to the show you can watch live online or look at some recent gigs on the
archive...
Doors 8pm SUZANNE RHATIGAN will be doing a solo gig at THE RUBY SESSIONS upstairs at Doyles Pub College St Dublin on TUESDAY 14th AUGUST. Show starts 9pm £3 goes to the Simon Community Charity. |
RHATIGAN
I am finding it very hard to get this months Cushy blurb together as the fine weather beckons me to even more pressing tasks in the garden ie sunbathing and annoying my neighbours with hours of harmonica practice. No improvement yet though . www.suzannerhatigan.com I do want to let you know that an intriguing night of music
and entertainment lies ahead on July 12th. Fresh from his album
launch gorgeous kiwi BLAIR JOLLANDS returns with his rocking
band EL HULA. The album
out on More Protein is fittingly called HOTEL as it houses an
improbably eclectic range of styles
from classic soul and blues to Middle Eastern and European folk
influenced songs about the loves and lives Blair has encountered
on his travels around the world. www.elhula.com
First on is the impossibly shy and modest mark
(his request to have no capitals in is name). He is a regular
face at the Cushy nights and has had to be tortured and threatened
into playing his first solo gig. He has what it takes whether
he believes it or not, so get there early and give him some encouragement,
he's worth it.
